CJ addresses this year’s World Justice Forum at the Hague
Chief Justice Martha Koome virtually addressed this year’s #WorldJusticeForum presently underway at the Hague organised by the @TheWJP under the theme: “Building More Just Communities.”
The CJ shared people-centred access to justice experiences at the @Kenyajudiciary especially the game changing initiatives that are bringing justice avenues closer to communities.
She elaborated on the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on access to justice and the gains realised from embedding technology and related innovations into the justice system.
Justice Koome highlighted 4 key wins contributing to people-centred access to justice: (1) data, (2) evidence-based decision making, (3) sector collaboration/political support and (4) game changing innovations such as the Small Claims Courts, AJS and Virtual Courts.
The CJ was grateful to Hon. Justice Hatari Waweru who is attending the Forum in person on behalf of @Kenyajudiciary under our shared leadership model, for elaborating these measures at the People-Centred Access to Justice Plenary.
The event was also attended by the Chief of Staff – Rose Wachuka and Director, Planning and Organisational Performance – Dr. Paul Kimalu, to engage partners on global support and insights to actualise the promise of social transformation through access to justice.
Justice Koome thanked the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law @InnoJustice for their incredible support and partnership in our mutual progressive quest to extend justice services, assets, resources and empowerment to all.
